Yesterday morning I went down to Buckler’s Hard on the Beaulieu River for sunrise. It was very cloudy as I left home, and I considered going back to bed, but luckily the sky cleared as I approached Southampton so I carried on.
Buckler’s Hard is part of the Beaulieu Estate, it is where many of the ships used in the Battle of Trafalgar in 1805 were built. This included Lord Nelson’s first command ship HMS Agamemnon, also know to be his favorite.
Low tide on the Beaulieu River reveals the ruined old launching slips. Also the large areas of mud are an important wildlife habitat.
Take a look at the rest of the photographs from yesterday in the New Forest Gallery over on the website.
