New Gallery: Berkshire

I have added a new Berkshire Gallery to the site.

Last week I managed to get out and grab a few photographs of Combe Gibbet and Walbury Hill. The wind was very strong, but the sun was out and the views were good.

Combe Gibbet is on Gallows Down very close to the Hampshire, Berkshire, and Wiltshire boarders. It was erected in 1676 to hang George Broomham and Dorothy Newman for having an affair and then murdering George’s wife and son.

Walbury Hill is the highest point in South East England at 297m (974ft). There are fantastic views over the Kennet River Valley to the North. An Iron-age hillfort encircles the top with earthworks of banks and ditches.

You can see the other images taken last week in the Berkshire Gallery along with pictures of Donnington Castle and the Ridgeway. Some pictures of Newbury are on the way.
