New Images: Rosebay Willowherb

Rosebay Willowherb or Chamerion Angustifolium near Whitchurch

Every summer this field is filled with the bright purple pyramidal spikes of Rosebay Willowherb. I have been meaning to capture this for a few years now, but always seem to miss it. Only a few miles from home, this is the largest and most dense area of the plant that I have seen so far.

A warm evening last week I went down to the field to get some shots. The weather was perfect, apart from the gusty wind! Keeping the flowers still and sharp within the frame was proving very challenging. But after some persistence and many wasted frames I came back with a few good ones, which can be seen in the Hampshire Gallery on the main website.
